I have worked for many years within a broad range of social care settings, working in a number of residential schools where I was at one stage a Head of Care. Prior to this I was a House Manager within care homes in community settings. I have externally managed a Family Centre, a service supporting families with children affected by their additional support needs, Youth Homeless projects and a residential care home for children with complex needs. I have been involved too with Family Placements within Shared Lives models and I am delighted to now be at Ochil Tower School at such a significant time in the school's history.

I am particularly interested in developing the social pedagogical model that lies at the centre of our interaction with each other as staff, and with children and young people. I have long been interested in developing care approaches that are strength-based and build the capacity for resilience for young people. The Camphill ethos underpins the work that we do and enables us to work with children and young adults using a range of cultural activities that inspire positive outcomes.

During the last 15 years that I have worked in many different care environments. This has included a Head of Care position at a residential specialist school supporting young people with additional support needs. I am an experienced manager, passionate and dedicated to improving outcomes for children and young adults within the service delivery for vulnerable people with complex needs. I have  a proven track record in the understanding and delivery of good practice placing the child in the centre.  To support the creation of an care environment that achieves the best outcomes for young people is my focus.

I believe in the importance of a consistent approach, role modelling working practices for staff so as to support the development of a positive culture. I have a particular interest on quality improvement and quality assurance which are crucial aspects in the delivery of care services. I am an accredited trainer in de-escalating techniques and behaviour management.

I was attracted to Ochil Tower School by the Camphill community ethos and Social Pedagogy model providing a 24 hour curriculum which meets individual needs in a safe, positive and enriching environment in which every pupil is encouraged to achieve their full potential.
